Some businesses start as ideas on paper. D&X Coffee started as a long time dream, a big leap of faith, and a promise to family.
D&X Coffee is a woman owned and family operated coffee kiosk in downtown Jackson, owned by Ashley Hardy and located inside the Sky Professional Suites. It may be small in size, but it carries a big story and an even bigger heart. The name D&X comes from Ashleys two boys, Demetrius, who is six, and Xander, who is nine. Every cup of coffee is a reminder of why this business exists in the first place, to build something meaningful for them and for the community.
Before opening D&X, Ashley spent twelve years working in healthcare. Like many people, the experience of working through COVID changed everything, and not for the better. The dream of owning a coffee shop had always been there, and eventually it was time to take the risk and turn that dream into reality. In December of 2025, D&X Coffee officially opened its doors.
The journey has not been easy. Shortly before opening, Ashleys dad was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She lost him on January 18th, right in the middle of trying to get the business off the ground. Choosing to step away from the business to care for him was the only choice that felt right, but it took a toll in those early days. Even with that setback, D&X has slowly started to build momentum again, one customer and one day at a time.
Today, Ashley and D&X Coffee are proud to offer great products and an experience that is not like anything else in Jackson. It is more than just a place to grab a drink. It is a dream come true, a space built with love, sacrifice, and determination. They are also in the process of expanding to a mobile setup, so they can cater private events and pop up at happenings around town, bringing their coffee and their story to even more people.
At the heart of it all is family and possibility. D&X is proof to two young boys that anything is possible if you work hard and keep going, even when life gets heavy.
